The Serbian government has developed a new package of measures to tackle the economic crisis. The measures will be made public in the coming days, Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic said in Belgrade this Monday. "Government harmonizes economic measures" He explained that the plan included the most comprehensive "rationalization" of the state administration since 2000, and new measures for supporting employment and infrastructure. The government could decrease the wages in public sector and state administration by as much as 30 percent, a daily wrote today. Blic newspaper further said that the Cvetkovic cabinet should decide this Monday on the amount, and the severance payments for those who would be laid off. But there was reportedly no agreement on these issues in the government. One idea is to decrease only those wages currently over RSD 40,000, and by five percent. This percentage would be progressively increased, so that those working for the state and paid from the budget, earning RSD 100,000, would see their salaries cut by 30 percent. The other option that's on the table, according to the daily, is to introduce a cut of 10, 15, or 17 percent, also for those earning more than RSD 40,000.
