Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic says that Serbia is an integral, key factor in speeding up the European integration of the Western Balkans. In a lecture at Oxford University, Jeremic said that the future of the Western Balkans, which is of essential importance to consolidating European security, depended on whether the EU decided to quickly accept Serbian membership. Jeremic: Serbia “key factor” Noting that the recent energy crisis had shown that Europe had a strategic interest in Ukraine’s stability, and that Turkey could easily become a key EU player in the Middle East, Jeremic said that he did not want Serbia to be placed in the same category as these two countries.
