The competent ministers and regional secretaries will today adopt a stance on the draft Law on Vojvodina’s Jurisdictions, says the province's first minister. Speaking to B92, Bojan Pajtic said that the government would rubber-stamp the proposed law and pass it to parliament for adoption in the next 10 days. Pajtic repeated that the Vojvodina Statute did not contain elements of statehood and that the province would have the jurisdictions that the Serbian Constitution offers. He added that only technical and language changes were possible in some clauses and that the Statute did not envision giving the regional assembly legislative powers. “The Vojvodina Statute will contain a provision that relates to regional assembly decisions, that will essentially state that the Vojvodina Assembly will make decisions in the areas that the Constitution defines as regional jurisdiction,” he said. “Those are regional assembly decisions and I would point out that we do not envision any regional laws via the draft Statute, nor any kind of act which could be called such,” he added.
