Former Deputy PM Nikola Sainovic and retired General Vladimir Lazarevic will be granted temporarily release from the custody of the Hague Tribunal. Under the court’s ruling, Sainovic must return to The Hague on October 17 and Lazarevic ten days later. Temporary release for two of Kosovo Six Both have been released temporarily on health grounds. Former Serbian President Milan Milutinovic, who was released on September 10, is expected back at the Tribunal tomorrow. He, along with Sainovic and Lazarevic, is accused of war crimes against the Kosovo Albanians. The trial of Milutinovic, Sainovic and Lazarevic, along with Dragoljub Ojdanic, Nebojsa Pavkovic and Sreten Lukic is over and the verdict is due to be delivered shortly. The trial ran from July 10, 2006 to August 27, 2008. They are accused of the forced displacement, deportation, murder and persecution of Albanians from Kosovo in the first six months of 1999. The prosecution wants the accused to be found guilty and sentenced to between 20 years and life imprisonment. The defense says that the crimes have not been proven and that the suspects should be acquitted.
