Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica says that DSS-NS ministers are not aware of the contents of the SAA’s “accompanying document.” Kostunica said that the government had never adopted a document with whose contents not all the government’s members were entirely familiar. PM warns of SAA’s “accompanying document” “Not only does Solana’s agreement represent deceit and the signing away of Kosovo’s independence, but the Tadic-Djelic signature was also put on an accompanying document that we have yet to see,” the prime minister cautioned. He said that none of the ministers from the Democratic Party of Serbia-New Serbia (DSS-NS) coalition had seen the temporary agreement that had accompanied the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), both signed by President Boris Tadic and Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic. “And now we hear that the DS will try to present that agreement, which no one has seen yet, at the next cabinet meeting,” Kostunica said. He said that Serbian citizens had to know that this was a case of “trying to pull off a grand hoax, and this is an agreement which goes directly against the state and Serbia’s national interests.” “All this goes to show that, when one is dealing with deceit, one falls ever deeper into big mistakes,” surmised Kostunica. Meanwhile, DSS spokesman Andreja Mladenovic has called on President Boris Tadic and Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic to make the temporary agreement public. “The public has to know why they are hiding the temporary agreement and if any amendments have been added,” Mladenovic said, adding that Tadic and Djelic were “for some reason hiding” the temporary agreement, as he put it, together with “Solana’s agreement for Kosovo’s independence.” Mladenovic said that the Democratic Party (DS) had claimed that it could not show that document to the public because it was in a special electronic format. “How was that temporary agreement signed then in the first place, if it is in a specific electronic format, unknown to the public,” the DSS spokesman wondered. “We call on Tadic and Djelic to say what they are hiding and where they have hidden the temporary agreement. Not only is it against the Constitution, but it’s also pure bully-boy tactics to adopt an illegal document that ministers and the public still haven’t seen,” Mladenovic said, adding that the DS “was plunging headlong into complete ruin and would bear full responsibility for this unconstitutional act.” Vojislav Kostunica (FoNet, archive) “Organized and blatant lies” President and Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic has denied allegations made by the DSS that his party is hiding the text of the temporary agreement, calling them “lies”. In a statement to journalists, Tadic said that those statements were “organized and open lies. The government adopted the temporary agreement in December, every point and every letter of it, and that will be made public today,” he told journalists after talking to members of the public at DS headquarters. “I don’t know why these false accusations are being made, one of them being that the Stabilization and Association Agreement recognizes Kosovo independence,” the DS leader said. He said that DS ministers will tomorrow propose confirmation of a proposal to pass the SAA on to parliament for ratification at tomorrow’s cabinet meeting. Asked if the prime minister, who has announced that he will not to support the proposal, could terminate the meeting where ratification of the energy agreement with Russia is to be proposed for a third time, Tadic replied that such a move would be pointless. “I expect Vojislav Kostunica to respect the Government Law,” the president continued. He reiterated that the DS had never opposed the energy agreement with Russia, although it failed to be adopted at the last two cabinet meetings because of DS and G17 Plus ministers’ refusal to back it. Tadic stated that the problem lay in the fact that the current dissolved parliament did not have the authority for such a decision. The agreement had to be adopted by a legitimate parliament, so as not to be rejected by the Constitutional Court.
