Partizan and Red Star yesterday split the booty with a 1-1 draw in the 133rd derby, dubbed the "eternal". The Meridijan Superliga (MSL) matchday 22 thus saw no change at the top of the table, where Partizan remain the leaders with five points ahead of the second-placed Red Star. Capital derby produces no winner The derby, played in front of some 20,000 fans at Partizan's stadium, brought two distinctly different halves. Red Star started the game more aggressively, only too aware that a draw will not boost their championship ambitions. Plenty of chances were seen in front of the both goals after 20 minutes of play, first from Red Star's Igor Burzanovic, who missed the target in the 20th, only to make amends two minutes later when he scored off a Misdongarde Betolingar cross. But five minutes later, Partizan's Brazilian midfielder Juca found the back of the net, setting the final score. The second half brought more cautious play, with both teams waiting for the opponent to make a mistake, but the result remained unchanged. More action was seen in the stands, where Red Star fans at one point tried to break down the barrier that kept them from their rivals' section of the stadium. An all-out clash between the fans was prevented with a timely intervention of MUP's Gendarmerie. The Gendarmes restored order and placed themselves between the two groups, so that the game finished with no further incidents. Gendarmes at work in the stands (FoNet)
