Transparency International is protesting what is says are attempts to silence criticism in Bosnia. The head of this international NGO Huguette Labelle has sent an open letter to Republic of Srpska Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, in reaction to his recent statements. Corruption watchdog sends protest letter to Dodik Dodik recently announced theat the RS Ministry of Justice would launch legal proceedings against the Transparency International branch in Bosnia, for its report on the privatization proceedings in this Bosnian entity. Now Labelle says this "undermines the freedom of expression and questions the credibility" of the global organization's local chapter, TI BiH. The letter also adds that Transparency International "protests any curbs on TI BiH right to draw conclusions based on research and to freely express these." "It is Ti BiH’s fundamental right to publish reports and voice its opinions. Attempts – even unintentional ones- to intimidate or silence such NGOs are against Bosnia and Herzegovina’s constitution," the letter concludes.
