A court in Varna, Bulgaria, has sentenced a 23-year-old man to a ten-month suspended sentence for using a social networking website to propagate racial hatred. The man, Slava Zhechev, used Facebook to organize an event dubbed, "Kill the Roma (Gypsies)". On September 28, Zhechev used his Facebook profile to call on people to arm themselves and join him in the anti-Roma event, said reports. Last month, violent protests erupted in Bulgaria after a Roma man murdered a Bulgarian boy. Police acted to prevent several attempts by angry Bulgarians to attack Roma settlements.
