SARAJEVO -- A former Bosnian Serb army (VRS) general was arrested in Banja Luka today.
The retired high ranking officer was identified as Novak Đukić. The Bosnian prosecution charges him with war crimes.
Prosecution spokesman Boris Grubešić told reporters in Sarajevo Đukić is a suspect in the 1995 case known as the Tuzla Gate, when one of the mortar shells fired from a VRS position near that eastern Bosnian town killed 71 persons, wounding scores of others.
Đukić was transferred to the prosecution during the day, where he will be interrogated. The decision will then be made on whether to remand him in custody.
