Dačić to attend UNSC session on Kosovo on February 10

The UNSCE session in New York will cover the regular quarterly report of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

The previous UNSC session on Kosovo was held on November 19, 2013. In his report, the secretary general pointed to the importance of the success of local elections, especially in northern Kosovo which is home to Serb majority population.

Ban said that this will affect the consolidation of peace and stability in the area, as well as the aspirations of Serbia and Kosovo concerning European integration.

Ban said that both Belgrade and Priština demonstrated more intense commitment to prevention of tensions in the field so as to secure the continuation of the dialogue and implementation of the agreements reached so far.

In his address to the UNSC on that occasion, Dačić warned that since June 10, 1999 when the international civilian and military forces were set up, over 7,000 physical assaults on Serbs were registered and ethnic cleansing was conducted in three quarters of municipalities which were home to Serbs before the war.

The Serbian prime minister noted that the Priština government is hindering the implementation of the agreement to set up the community of Serb municipalities after the local elections.

Belgrade considers it important for the agreements reached on grounds of the agreement on normalization of relations with Priština to be realised in keeping with the will and intentions of negotiators because the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija would thus be clearly defined, Dačić said.
