EULEX chief Yves de Kermabon says the EU mission would be fully operational before the end of this winter. Speaking in Pristina on Friday, Kermabon added that the mission had achieved "significant results in police and customs". "EULEX had successful start" After a meeting of a coordination body for the rule of law, he told reporters that EULEX was increasing personnel numbers and that it currently had 1,600 members, including international judges, prosecutors and police and customs officers ,and that about 800 members of the mission from Kosovo were working together with them. "We have so far established the judiciary in all regions, with the exception of northern [Kosovska] Mitrovica. EULEX judges have started with court proceedings and are also engaged as counselors and in monitoring activities," he said. Kermabon also stated that the transfer of cases from UNMIK judges and prosecutors to their EU mission colleagues was underway. Deputy Kosovo Premier Hajredin Kuci, a co-chairman of the body, said that EULEX was "very successful" as it started work, in particular stressing the start of registration of goods that enter Kosovo via two "border crossings" in the north.
