"Deputy Kosovo Premier Hajredin Kuci, a co-chairman of the body, said that EULEX was "very successful" as it started work, in particular stressing the start of registration of goods that enter Kosovo via two "border crossings" in the north."

Kuci conveniently omitted to mention that Eulex had already stated that the registration is only for its own records in collaboration with the Serbian customs, and that these records will not be shown to the Albanians.

Treat the Albanians in Presevo the way Serbs are treated in Kosovo.

I agree with that. Start by making Albanian an official language in Serbia proper. Have Albanian ministers in your government. Hold a couple of parliament posts for Albanians + whatever they can win in elections. Allow them the right to veto any law that deals with ethnicities and minorities. Once Serbia approves these laws then we can speak of equal treatment between Albanians in Presheva and Serbs in Mitrovica.

How come there are Serbian churches and monasteries that dates back much longer than any mosque or other proof of Albanian history in the province? Albanians simply don't have any historical proof that they settled Kosovo before anyone else. You just claim that's how it is and expect everyone to buy it. The fact is that Albanians became a large majority in Kosovo due to high birthrates and an influx of Albanians during the last years of Enver Hoxha's rule.
Besides, if you are so concerned about natives having leagal right to a territory then I suppose you support the native americans getting their land back from the current occupiers? If Kosovo was such a clear case then why is there so much controversy over its status?
What is happening in Kosovo is very dangerous and will not lead to lasting peace. Lasting peace will be acheived when two sides reach an agreement without pressures and treats from major powers.

MikeC,

We both can see how differently we see "the way forward" in Kosova.
At least we agree to disagree. I kept on saying here that Kosova and Serbia will never agree when it comes to Kosova status but Jeremic and Serbia did not want to accept that but was looking for a "compromise" instead in other words did not agree Kosova's independence. STATUS QUO was UNACCEPTABLE! And we are where we are. President Ahtisari was called in by Secretary General of the UN to find a solution to the Kosova problem. The solution was Ahtisari PLAN. You can still disagree but HOPEFULLY at least WE CAN AGREE TO DISAGREE! One more thing. You were talking about "stolen Serbian land" When did the Serbs came in the Balcans and from where?

"EULEX had successful start"?

How is that true? It was obvious that there would be absolutely no interferences with Albanian areas.

I more worried about Serb enclaves than "North Kosovo".
When will they be safe if ever? Preserving churches is one thing, but more importantly Serbs inside of Kosovo need to be preserved and need to grow.

EA,

Do you actually believe if Serbs recognized Kosovo that they would ever be "friends". Look at Crna Gora. Serbs recognized them immedietly and that relationship is only getting worse. All countries in the Balkans are too bitter and can not look at the big picture to get over their nationalism and improve quality of life.

Who cares if you are Serbian, Croatian, Albanian, Slovene, etc... Work together!

Splitting Kosovo into Serbian areas and Albanian ones is the only way forward. NATO created this mess, now deal with the "reality on the ground". Serbs will never get control of Albanian areas in Kosovo and vice verca. Just face these facts! Albanians have decescrated to many Serbian holy places for any peace between the people to be possible. These people could and should never live together. War criminals are in charge of Kosovo and Albos want Serbs to join those institutions. I think not! Albanians stole parts of Kosovo. The main thing Serbs should be concerned about is to prevent Albos from steeling more Serbian territory. Treat the Albanians in Presevo the way Serbs are treated in Kosovo.

""We have so far established the judiciary in all regions, with the exception of northern [Kosovska] Mitrovica. "

Now is it clear who understand the civilized life- the notion of the state of law and who wants the underground life???

Who is for law and who is against????

Implementation of Ahtisari Pland is the way forward in securing peace and stability in the region. Same rights for Albanians in Preseva, Bujanovc and Medvegja to the Serbs living in Kosova. Way forward Serbia to recognise Kosova as independent and handover its war criminals. Open talks on Friendship Agreements between Kosova and Serbia regarding free movement of goods and people as matters with mutual interest. Both Kosova and Serbia in EU.
