BELGRADE --
Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said that the goal of the Morava operation was not only to seize illegal substances, but also to “paralyze” the dealer networks.

Some 100 arrested persons have been remanded into custody for a period of 48 hours.
Among the arrested was a man in Belgrade who had USD 1.52mn in counterfeit bills in his possession, and Dževad Alibašić from Tutin, who is suspected of being a member of an international organized drug dealing crime group.
Analyst Miša Vašić said that the police raid was the largest one of its kind since the Sabre action of 2003, that followed the assassination of prime minister Zoran Đinđic.
Vašić told B92 that this action comes at the worst moment for the courts, who are in the middle of great reforms, and must deal with many emergency cases for remanding people into custody in order for the “paralysis” to work.
“I am not an optimist when our court system is in question, taking into consideration recent decisions and the shaky situation of the last several years, but that depends on the quality mostly, of the evidence that the police have gathered and the quality of the indictments which will be issued,” he said.
On Saturday morning, police arrested more than 500 persons in a nation wide action against suspected drug dealers and suppliers.
Several dozen kilograms of various drugs were also seized, along with large amounts of weapons, ammunition and stolen property.
