DS still comfortably in front in polls

The Democratic Party is still by far the most popular political group in Serbia, according to the latest polls.

The Democratic Party is still by far the most popular political group in Serbia, according to the latest polls. The DS is supported by 36.6 percent of the electorate, according to an opinion poll conducted by the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CESID). DS still comfortably in front in polls Boris Tadic's list is followed by Tomislav Nikolic’s recently-formed Serb Progressive Party (SNS), which would now gain 23.8 percent of voters in a parliamentary election. The other political parties and coalitions trail far behind. Support for the Democratic Party of Serbia and New Serbia coalition stands at 8.6 percent, a third down on their performance at the May parliamentary election. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) currently has the support of 6.9 percent of citizens. It is followed by the Liberal Democratic Party and the coalition gathered around the Socialist Party of Serbia with 6.7 percent each. CESID conducted the poll on October 18-28 on the basis of a sample of 4,718 people.
