Serb Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic has been ordered to pay Mladjan Dinkic almost EUR 9,000 after being found guilty of slander. Vucic must compensate the minister for bringing his name into disrepute, the Belgrade First Municipal Court ruled. SNS deputy leader lose court battle to Dinkic The SNS official was sued after saying at parliamentary sessions on May 7 and 13, 2007 that Economy Minister Dinkic was “the biggest robber and thief in Serbian history” and that he had been given immunity by the last government “for robbery with a stocking pulled over his face.” He also accused Dinkic of robbing the National Savings Bank and several other banks, asking him “where he got his EUR 50mn from.” Vucic refuses to pay anything to Dinkic, according to the SNS. The party stated that Vucic is “ready to go to prison and have Dinkic confiscate things from him home, but he will not pay him a single dinar.” The SNS deputy leader said that he meant every word he said in parliament.
