The first consignment of CZ 99 handguns destined for the Iraq market will be shipped out of the Zastava factory three weeks ahead of schedule. Even though the first shipment was first planned for July, according to CEO Rade Gromovic, the weapons are ready and the permits necessary for exporting them have been secured, so the date has been shifted to June 11. First arms shipment bound for Iraq This will mark the official beginning of the realization of an arms export agreement signed between the Kragujevac-based gunmaker and the Iraqis. The value of the first shipment is about USD 600,000. The deal will see the Kragujevac-based factory sell a total of 18,000 of these pistols worth USD 5mn. A part of the shipment will be standard CZ 99 model, while the rest will be luxury packages with engravings which the prime minister and president of Iraqi will present to foreign statesmen and guests. President of the Zastava Weapons Independent Union Jugoslav Ristic said that in order for the company to work successfully, orders worth USD 40mn must be secured annually, adding that more contracts such as this one with Iraqi "will lead the factory in the right direction".
