Tanjug, "shut down" last year, to host EANA in 2017

The EANA is made up of 32 European news agencies, with each country represented by only one agency, its national news agency, Tanjug said, noting that members include DPA (Germany), AFP (France), ANSA (Italy), APA (Austria), HINA (Croatia), STA (Slovenia) and EFE (Spain).

At this year's assembly meeting in Bratislava, Tanjug Director Branka Djukic presented the Tanjug Case Study at the initiative of the EANA Board, "informing it in detail of the circumstances the Serbian national news agency is now operating in, without government funding."

The EANA "reaffirmed its strong support for Tanjug's continued work," the agency said.

The government announced last November that Tanjug was shutting down after a failed privatization attempt. However, the agency has continued to operate.
