Iraqi FM: We won't recognize Kosovo "despite pressure"

"Serbia fully supports Iraq in its fight against the terrorists of Islamic State," Nikolic said, proposing "a more intense exchange of intelligence information between Serbia and Iraq."

Speaking about the migrant crisis, Nikolic informed Al-Jaafari about Belgrade's activities aimed at facilitating the position of migrants - many among them Iraqi citizens - in its territory.

Al-Jaafari "expressed his great gratitude for everything Serbia has done for the migrants currently in its territory, and those who passed through it," and stressed that his country is "gradually implementing measures aimed at removing the causes that made Iraqi citizens leave," and creating conditions "for all those who fled the terrorists to be able to return."

Al-Jaafari also thanked Nikolic "for the support and the friendship that has been proved constantly," and stressed that his country was interested in intensifying economic ties with Serbia.

The Iraqi minister said that his country would not change its position of not recognizing the so-called "Kosovo" - "regardless of the external pressure that it is subjected to."

On behalf of Iraq's president, Fuad Masum, Al-Jaafari invited Nikolic to visit his country - "not only as Serbia's president, but also as a great friend of the Iraqi people," the Serbian president's press service said in a statement on Thursday.
