NEW YORK The UN Security Council has delayed a vote on a draft resolution on Syria for Thursday morning. The draft was submitted by western countries. The draft threatens to introduce sanctions "against the Syrian regime". UN Security Council postpones vote on Syria Special Envoy of the UN and the Arab Union Kofi Annan urged the UN Security Council to postpone the scheduled vote on the resolution. "We will vote tomorrow morning," confirmed the British Ambassador to the UN Mark Lyall Grant. Annan earlier today sought postponement of the vote because of alleged indications that he might win over Russia's support for the resolution, the agencies reported. "Annan believes that it is still possible to reach a compromise with Russia on the resolution," a diplomat in New York told the AFP. Annan earlier today sought postponement of the vote because of alleged indications that he might win over Russia's support for the resolution, the agencies reported.
