Raspberry farmers and buyers have reached an agreement in the Serbian government headquarters early on Sunday. The farmers, however, are not completely satisfied with the agreement. Raspberry farmers, buyers reach agreement Agriculture Minister Dusan Petrovic has called on all protesting farmers to accept the solution. The meeting lasted for six hours and raspberry buyers agreed to increase the price of raspberries from RSD 90 to RSD 100. Petrovic said that the Agriculture Ministry had acted as a mediator in the difficult and complicated talks, adding that it was very important that a compromise was found. Vilamet Raspberry Farmers Association President Dragan Bogdanovic told Tanjug that the initial purchase price of RSD 100 per kilogram was a compromise solution, stressing that raspberry farmers’ protest should therefore end. Vilamet Raspberry Farmers Association Deputy President Dusko Nenadic said that the offer was accepted by a majority vote but that he personally was against it and added that raspberry buyers “played the raspberry farmers“. He pointed out that the farmers could have gotten at least RSD 110-115 per kilogram.
