Anti-hunger campaign wins accolade

The Eurobest Festival, which opened in Hamburg this week, announced that a Leo Burnett/B92 campaign was the winner in its "integrated" category. The Hunger Strike Against Hunger campaign competed with 105 entries from 16 countries, organizers said. Anti-hunger campaign wins accolade The campaign, which saw some 700,000 people enter a hunger strike for a day in order to highlight the plight of the poor in the country, took place in October 2009. 350 companies also joined the strike, along with people from 88 countries who supported the campaign. It provoked strong political and social debates, and spurred donations amounting to more than 2,000 tons of food, and help to open new soup kitchens. During the campaign alone, food worth EUR 930,000 was donated. In its wake, the government of Serbia announced reform of the social welfare law that will devote special attention to hunger issue solving. Previously, Hunger Strike Against Hunger was awarded at the Golden Drum Portoroz Festival, and also received the Grand Prix Care Award, among others. Eurobest, now the Eurobest Festival, has been one of the premier awards for Europe's creative advertising industry.
