Serbian film in festivals after Swiss success

Oleg Novkovic's "White White World" (Serbian: Beli, beli svet) will take part in a number of international festivals. The film is fresh from its successful participation at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where it won two awards. Serbian film in festivals after Swiss success It has now been invited to Pusan in South Korean, where it will be screened in the the World Section, said its producers. The film will also be shown in Rome's Locarno a Roma, in Bratislava, Slovacia, Thessaloniki, and at the European Film Festival Les Arcs in France this fall and winter. A review in the Hollywood Reporter describes the film, set in the easter Serbian mining town of Bor, as depicting "bruised people trying to get by in a ruined industrial wasteland and its sense of battered pride and worldly regret". This, the reviewer notes, "should find a place in art houses and could attract awards at festivals". The film is expected to premier in Belgrade this fall.
