Residents of Belgrade and many other towns this morning faced thick ice on sidewalks. Those who braved the streets on foot this Christmas Eve have trouble walking, while the number of injuries due to falling after slipping on ice has increased, emergency services warn. Streets in Serbian towns covered in ice The traffic, on the other hand, although slowed down due to some ice on the road surface, is functioning, as the roads and main junctions have been cleared of snow. The situation is similar in other cities and towns throughout Serbia. The temperatures, which let up yesterday, are to blame for the pedestrians' predicament, since the melted snow turned into ice with overnight frost.
