Macedonia will abstain from the UN General Assembly vote on the Serbian draft resolution on Kosovo, Macedonian media report. TV A1 from Skopje reported the news, citing sources from the Macedonian Foreign Ministry. “Macedonia to abstain from UN GA vote” Serbia’s draft resolution on Kosovo calls on the International Court of Justice to gives its advisory opinion on the legality of Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence. Macedonia has not recognized Kosovo, and any kind of Macedonian response might be seen as taking sides, be it in Belgrade or Pristina’s favor, Macedonian Foreign Ministry sources say. Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Integration Ivica Bocevski reiterated that Macedonia would decide whether to recognize Serbia’s breakaway province in line with its own national and state interests. "Macedonia is different from other countries in the region because our foreign policy has always been peaceful and rational, and we have never rushed into making any decisions, but have taken all decisions in the country’s best interests. We will act accordingly in this instance,” Bocevski said, adding that Macedonia would not be swayed by calls or pleas from either side.
