Minister: Security situation in Serbia stable

He underlined that all threats are being taken seriously, stressing that nevertheless, Serbia is stable.

Stefanovic underlined that since the year's start, over 56,000 people entered Serbia, but only a few hundreds requested asylum, because they primarily want to pass through Serbia and continue towards the EU.

The people entering Serbia are being interrogated so as to check whether they might pose a terrorist threat or if they took part in some earlier conflicts, he said.

“People at border crossings are being checked in detail and we are very cautious,” Stefanovic underlined.

He said that there have been no problems with migrants passing through Serbia.

“We had almost no incident with those people, and we have proved to be humane hosts. I am thankful to the citizens of Serbia for that,” Stefanovic said.
