Serbian PM Mirko Cvetkovic and German Chancellor Angela Merkel concluded today that the two countries were "very important political and economic partners". Germany is Serbia's biggest trade partner and one of the most important investors, Cvetkovic said in Belgrade on Tuesday. Cvetkovic, Merkel meet, talk "important partnership" Cvetkovic informed the German chancellor about reform legislation adopted in the framework of the process of Serbia's EU accession, the macroeconomic situation and reforms the government has undertaken to improve the investment climate. "German companies have been doing business successfully in Serbia for years and they are the best recommendation to future investors," said Cvetkovic. Merkel said she was acquainted with experiences of German investors in Serbia and that there was great potential for further development of cooperation, especially in the areas of infrastructure and energy - especially in renewable energy sources. She added that Serbia should pay special attention to the development of small and medium companies. It was also stressed at the meeting that Germany will via its Development Bank KFW offer support to the project of setting up the Development Bank of Serbia. (Tanjug)
