The voting on the controversial draft, which has seen the ruling coalition struggle to garner a majority in parliament, is only ten days away. LDP support for media law "still uncertain" The fate of the proposal still hangs in the balance, with the opposition LDP – which earlier announced its support provided the government draft underwent "some changed" – meeting with journalist associations only this week. Association of Journalist of Serbia (UNS) head Ljiljana Smajlovic said that as they met with the party's officials on Thursday, they stated their objections, and said they were against the bill, but did not hear confirmation of whether LDP MPs would back it in parliament. B92 could not reach LDP officials last night, while the party announced after the meeting with UNS that it would continue consulting journalist organizations, expert public and those dealing with freedom of the media. The statement also said that UNS accepted an invitation to join other association in making a media strategy initiated by the party. The ruling coalition can push its draft through only with the help of the LDP, after the SPS-led coalition decided it would not back it with its votes.
