The incident was caused by two groups belonging to two separate factions within Serbia's Islamic population. Fresh inter-Muslim trouble in Sandzak A group of Muslims from Trnava, that supports Islamic Community in Serbia Chief Mufti Muamer Zukorilic, attempted to prevent Islamic Community of Serbia leader, Reis-Ul-Ulema Adem Zilkic and his entourage from entering the village mosque. As has been the case during previous similar incidents, the two sides are accusing each other of starting the conflict. Although the Islamic Community of Serbia said there were no injuries, Tanjug has learned from the rival organization that at least four people, including a 17-year-old, were hurt. According to the same source, most worshippers in Trnava support the Islamic Community in Serbia, and are trying to drive out a local imam, who backs the rival organization. They also accuse the imam of membership in Sulejman Ugljanin's party. Ugljanin, the mayor of Novi Pazar, and local rival Rasim Ljajic, a government minister, have been involved in a long-standing political dispute in Sandzak. The Islamic community rift also follows this political pattern. Both sides claim they have video footage of the incident in front of the mosque yesterday, but it has not yet been made available to the media.
