The Russian-Chinese AMS group has expressed interest in buying Zastava’s truck-manufacturing subsidiary. AMS management officials and experts are on a second two-day visit to Zastava to gather more information on technology, sectors and other potentials within the Zastava company. They visited Kragujevac for the first time a month ago. AMS group looks to buy Zastava Trucks The AMS will discuss the privatization of Zastava’s truck-manufacturing subsidiary, and are expected to meet with economy ministry officials soon. According to unofficial reports, the AMS group, which produces automobile components, would work with the Italian company NAVECO to continue manufacturing two to five-ton capacity trucks at Zastava. The company would continue making automotive parts in the factory as well. It is believed that AMS is interested in the Zastava's section for mechanical production, which produces parts already used in Russian VAZ vehicles. Zastava say that AMS is interested in buying the truck sector and the automotive production facilities the most, adding that if the company does acquire Zastava, the factory’s production program will not be altered. Zastava Trucks has been in the privatization process for a long time, and the government announced a tender for a stake in the company’s ownership structure for this fall.
