Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) on Wednesday increased fuel prices sold at its gas stations throughout the country. The decision came after the government moved to equalize fuel excise duties. New excise policy hikes fuel prices Gasoline prices went up RSD 4.5 per liter, while diesel is two dinars (RSD) more expensive. Early this year, Serbia introduced new excise taxes on fuel, which meant that imported oil derivatives of euro-quality were more expensive than those produced in the country. In February, however, the European Commission demanded that the tax be equalized, and said Serbia was in violation of the Interim Trade Agreement with the EU.

Gasoline prices went up RSD 4.5 per liter, while diesel is two dinars (RSD) more expensive.
