Early this year, Serbia introduced new excise taxes on fuel, which meant that imported oil derivatives of euro-quality were more expensive than those produced in the country.
In February, however, the European Commission demanded that the tax be equalized, and said Serbia was in violation of the Interim Trade Agreement with the EU. What happened Serbian plan of being the energy hub dictating to the EU and its neighbours. It looks very much like the EU is in the drivers seat they dont even own the Serbian automobile yet retreat Serbs back to the drawing board.
