The Serbian government fulfilled the conditions that were set out for the granting of the sixth revision of the arrangement with the IMF. This is according to IMF Permanent Representative in Serbia Bogdan Lissovolik, who explained that this happened when the Law on 2011 Budget and amendments to Law on Pension and Disability Insurance was sent to parliament. "Serbia fulfilled all IMF obligations" In an interview for the Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti, Lissovolik said that it only remains for the IMF Executive Board to make a decision on the issue on Wednesday. When asked if inflation could jeopardize the plan for 2011 which envisages a maximum of six percent, he said that, taking into account the announcements of better crops, it is believed that inflation will be reduced to the targeted level in the second half of 2011, as a consequence of lower price of agricultural products. Lissovolik believes that the stabilization of the food market should be Serbia's important goal, adding that international trade in food should be additionally facilitated, as well as faster import during shortages in the domestic market and activation of export canals at the time of excessive supply. An adequate government's policy can help regulate this through stockpile management and investments in agricultural infrastructure, Lissovolik underscored.
