Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic says preparations for the production of a brand new FIAT model, which Kragujevac plans for 2010, will begin in 6 to eight weeks. He added that the Italian partner planned to invest around EUR 800 million in the project. Dinkic: New FIAT model soon In yesterday’s introductory presentation at the Serbian-Italian forum on the possibilities of investing in Serbia, with the participation of more than 100 Italian companies, Dinkic called on Italian businessmen to invest in other economic sectors and in the construction of infrastructure in Serbia. Dinkic said that President Boris Tadic had been invited by Chief Executive Officer of the FIAT group Sergio Marchionne to visit Turin on November 13, where he will be presented with the new model of the car to be manufactured in Kragujevac. Addressing the Italian business delegation headed by Deputy Minister for Economic Development Adolfo Urso, Dinkic said that Italian suppliers would have comparative advantage in Serbia should they decide to build factories there, as they would be able to export customs-free to a market of 800 million people. Dinkic explained that thanks to the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), Serbia could export to the markets of former Yugoslav republics, while, via free trade agreements, the same applied to Serbian businessmen exporting to Russia, Turkey and Belarus.
