Law on free shares distribution takes effect

The Ministry of Economy said Thursday that the law on free distribution of shares has taken effect. The law regulates the citizens' right to a portion of public companies' free shares and reimbursement, to be realized in their privatization process. Law on free shares distribution takes effect All citizens who have not benefited from other privatizations, those who turned 18 at the latest on December 31, 2007, or were registered as citizens of the Republic of Serbia not later than January 3, 2008, are entitled to free shares. Citizens who on June 30, 2007 lived in the territory of Serbia or had the Kosovo IDP status are also eligible. In order to realize their right to free shares, citizens will also have to be registered in the list of voters with municipal bodies. The Ministry of Economy and Regional Development has completed drafting a decree which regulates in detail the registration procedure for citizens and employees and former employees of public enterprises which are the subject matter of privatization.
