Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu says the only way to ensure Israel’s survival in the region was to continue to develop the nation’s military might. He was speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday, in reference to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's statement, that described Israel as “a cancerous tumor that must be cut off.” Israel considers response to Iran threat A strong army “is the only guarantee of peace and Israel's only defense if peace unravels," Netanyahu said, according to VOA. Israel has repeatedly warned that was prepared to take military action against Iran if international sanctions failed. The news agency also quoted Israel’s former army chief and now Deputy Premier Moshe Ya’alon, who said that "all of Iran’s nuclear sites are 'vulnerable' to military strikes". On Sunday, U.S. President Barack Obama addressed the issue by saying that Israel has not yet decided how to respond to concerns about Iran's nuclear program, and that there was no evidence that Iran has the "intentions or capabilities" to wage attacks on U.S. soil. A strong army “is the only guarantee of peace and Israel's only defense if peace unravels," Netanyahu said, according to VOA.
