Police arrest ten for people smuggling

As part of an international operation the Serbian police on Wednesday arrested ten members of a criminal group that had been illegally smuggling people.

BELGRADE As part of an international operation the Serbian police on Wednesday arrested ten members of a criminal group that had been illegally smuggling people. The group transported people from Kosovo and Metohija, and also from Syria and other countries in Asia and Africa to the EU, Tanjug said it learned from the Police Directorate. The suspects are believed to have illegally smuggled a number of people to the EU from July until October this year, via the Serbian-Hungarian border, charging each person from 2,100 to 3,500 euros. The arrest operation was conducted in cooperation with the Serbian Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, Tanjug reported. The suspects have been identified only with their initials, and come from the towns of Mokrin, Presevo, Pristina, Kikinda, Zrenjanin, Subotica, Senta, Belgrade, and Indjija. Tanjug

The operation was carried out in the towns of Preševo, Subotica, Kikinda, Novi Sad, and Sremska Mitrovica.

The suspects are believed to have illegally smuggled a number of people to the EU from July until October this year, via the Serbian-Hungarian border, charging each person from 2,100 to 3,500 euros.

The arrest operation was conducted in cooperation with the Serbian Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, Tanjug reported.

The suspects have been identified only with their initials, and come from the towns of Mokrin, Preševo, Priština, Kikinda, Zrenjanin, Subotica, Senta, Belgrade, and Inđija.
