The locals are also unhappy with the way humanitarian aid is distributed through the Red Cross.

Protest organizer Dragan Murar told B92 that people planned to gather every day in front of the Obrenovac municipal administration building, and then move their protest to in front of the government building in Belgrade on Monday.

The gathering on Friday will demand that "the president and all councilors step down."

Municipal President Miroslav Čučković commented to say that he was informed about the protesters' demands, and that he "fully supported them."

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić visited Obrenovac on Thursday and asked residents "to be patient."

This was his reaction when journalists remarked that there was a gathering in progress in front of the municipal building, and that those gathered were asking for humanitarian aid and damage compensation.

Nikolić added that the government would "certainly send someone to talk to the population," and pleaded that, "along with all the courage they showed, they show a little patience as well."
