Rally accident death toll rises, organizers in custody

TARA, BELGRADE Two more persons who sustained serious injuries when a rally driver hit the crowd during an international race on Mt. Tara died on Sunday. Bosnia-Herzegovina’s rally driver Branimir Simic lost control of his car and hit four spectators on Sunday. Rally accident death toll rises, organizers in custody 30-year-old Nikola Trisic died on the way to the hospital. His younger sister, 27-year-old Jovana Trisic was transferred to Belgrade but succumbed to her injuries on Sunday afternoon. Dragisa Jakovljevic died in the Uzice Hospital after a surgery. His 17-year-old son Stefan, who was also injured, is not in life-threatening condition. Serbia’s Youth and Sport Ministry has sent condolences to the families of the victims. Tara International Mountain Race Director Ismet T., sport commission member Milo R. and Zivadin T., who was in charge of safety during the race, have been arrested on suspicion of committing a crime against public safety. Serbia’s Youth and Sport Ministry has sent condolences to the families of the victims.
