Croatian President Ivo Josipovic has stripped Branimir Glavas, Mirko Norac, Vladimir Zagorac, Tihomir Oreskovic and Sinisa Rimac of their senior military ranks. According to announcements, the Croatian president and commander in chief has made the decision in accordance with that country's Constitution and law. Croat leader strips 5 of military rank The rank of lieutenant-general was revoked from Glavas, Norac and Zagorac and the rank of colonel from Oreskovic and Rimac. The decision came into effect the day it was made. Josipovic signed it on September 9 and it was published in the Official Gazette yesterday. Glavas and Norac lost their military rank because of the ruling of the Supreme Court of Croatia which sentenced Glavas to eight and Norac to 12 years in prison for war crimes against ethnic Serb civilians in Croatia.. The rank was revoked from Zagorac in connection with the ruling of the Supreme Court of Croatia which had sentenced him to seven years in jail for abuse of position and authority. Oreskovic’s rank was revoked because he had been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
