Report: Mira Markovic ordered murder of Curuvija

Djordjevic has been sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Hague Tribunal for crimes against humanity.

The trial of four former members of the DB accused of the murder of journalist Slavko Curuvija will begin today before the Special Court in Belgrade.

At the meeting at which it was decided to kill Curuvija, according to the same note, was also Dragan Filipovic Fica, who was then directly linked to the four accused of the murder of Curuvija.

Filipovic was then deputy chief of the 2nd Directorate for DB's intelligence and adviser for special operations of the secret service chief Radomir Markovic, who is now accused of the murder of the journalist.

The 2nd Directorate was led by the now accused Milan Radonic, who was transferred a week before the murder on April 11, 1999. Radonjic was transferred to the post of chief of the Center of DB Belgrade on Mira Markovic's recommendation.

At the time of the murder Filipovic was deputy chief of the 2nd Directorate and superior to the accused Ratko Romic, the then chief inspector of this directorate. Romic is charged as accessory to murder of Curuvija. Miroslav Kurak, who is on the run, according to the indictment, is the direct perpetrator.

Filipovic, who has lived in Shanghai for many years, maintains contact with Mira Markovic and even visits her in Moscow, where the former president of JUL lives. It was also discovered that Filipovic was in contact with Kurak while he was hiding in Africa. These contacts have intensified, as Blic learned, after the prosecutorial investigation was launched in early 2014 against the four now accused of killing the journalist.
