LOZNICA The head of a drug rehabilitation facility in western Serbia has been placed under arrest for murdering an addict who was treated there. Priest Branislav Peranovic is now in police custody following his arrest late on Monday in Jadranska Lesnica, near the town of Loznica in western Serbia. Drug addict killed in rehabilitation center in west He is suspected of using a metal bar to hit 39-year-old Nebojsa Zarubac on the head and kill him instantly. According to unofficial reports, the violence was prompted by the fact Peranovic believed Zarubac had smuggled some drugs into the facility. "At this time there is suspicion that that there is correlation between the physical force, corporal punishment that the patient was exposed to, and his death. We will receive the results of the autopsy today," Judge Boban Velisavljevic told B92 on Tuesday. Peranovic is known for previously heading another rehabilitation center - that in Crna Reka. After videos surfaced online of beatings of drug addicts treated there, the center was closed, while he was reportedly defrocked.
