A record 110 countries have backed a resolution on the abolition of the death penalty, voted every two years at the UN General Assembly.

NEW YORK A record 110 countries have backed a resolution on the abolition of the death penalty, voted every two years at the UN General Assembly. Among the 39 countries that voted against are the United States, Japan, China, India, Iran, North Korea, Zimbabwe and Syria.
