Ministers of agriculture of Serbia and Israel Sasa Dragin and Shalom Simhon on Monday signed an agreement on cooperation. The agreement is expected to contribute to an increase of volume in the trade of agricultural products. Dragin underscored that this is one of the agreements that will bring a “lot of good” to both countries, and that trade change in the sector between the two nations "is yet to reach its full capacities". He went on to describe Israel as an excellent partner who will help Serbia maximize on its agricultural potential. Shalom Simhon stated that the agreement covers a number of topics, including experience and know-how that Israel will place at Serbia's disposal, aimed at better management of water sources, development of new irrigation technologies, increase of crops and know-how in the area of milk processing and other stock-raising branches. Israeli Ambassador to Serbia Arthur Kohl also attended the signing of the agreement. Also on Monday, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic began his two-day visit to Israel, during which he will sign an agreement between the two governments on cooperation in the fight against crime. According to the Serbian Interior Ministry, Dacic will meet with his Israeli counterpart Eliyahu Yishai, Police Commissioner Dudi Cohen and Minister of Public Security Yitzhak Aharonovitch. Dacic will sign an agreement between the Serbian and Israeli government on cooperation in the fight against crime, illegal trade and abuse of narcotics and psychoactive substances, terrorism and other serious criminal acts, and he is also to visit Israeli's special units.
