"Central priority Serbia closer to EU"

The central strategic priority of this government is to bring Serbia closer to the EU membership, Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic has stated. "There is no doubt that central strategic priority of this government is to bring Serbia closer to the EU membership. Our foreign policy efforts clearly show that," Jeremic said in an interview published by Belgrade daily Blic on Saturday. "Central priority Serbia closer to EU" When asked to comment on the fact that some Serbian analysts qualify the country's foreign policy as schizophrenic, that Serbia is trying to bring together disparate objectives - the EU, U.S., China, Russia, the Non-Aligned Movement – Jeremic responded that "we should not mix foreign policy priorities with the means we use to achieve them, and that our foreign policy priorities are not at all schizophrenic". "They are clearly defined, strongly supported by the citizens and we will continue insisting on them to be fulfilled. Those are Serbia's pathway towards the full-fledged EU membership, defense of the country's territorial integrity by diplomatic means and establishing the best possible relations with the countries in the region," he said. "We will continue making efforts to overcome obstacles in the EU integration process," Jeremic added.
