If the majority of Serbs truly desire EU membership, Tadic's behavior is beyond schizophrenic--it is irresponsible and embarrassing. Non-Aligned Movement, China, and now Libya! What will Tadic do for an encore--bring flowers to Iran? Did he have a dull summer and is thriving on free flights and accommodations?

Economically, politically, and geographically everyone understands Russia. The EU and US may whine and moan, but they get it. This last month, however, is a bad comedy.

If Tadic was in charge of the airlines and wanted a flight from Belgrade into Subotica, I'm thinking it would be routed through Johannesberg.

Not knowing enough, I ask a genuine question: When and where have the Russians been such great allies of the Serbs? Didn't seem as if you got great back-up during the wars of the 90's.

I think that Serbia should forget about Russia. Serbia should just concentrate on joining the EU.

Thank God you are not a politician in Serbia.

The more people try to sway Serbia away from their Russian brothers the more convinced I am that this is the path Serbia should be on.
The west and their supporters don't want to see Serbia being supported by a powerful ally.

Mircea, would you also advise that Serbia not get close to China too?

Putting all eggs in one basket is never clever

Well Swiss however hard you try to tell this most hungarians and romanians will not understand this principle at all.The only difference is between them that romanians are clever enough to start packing their eggs to another basket once they see that there are holes on the original one while hungarians wait until all eggs fall from the original basket and then start looking for both new eggs and basket.

I totally agree with you. Yes, disparate and I would add "contradictory" objectives. It gives the impression of a country, who can't make up its mind.

Putting all eggs in one basket is never clever and it looks that the US also understood it by trying to politicaly repair all the damages that Bush and co created for the last 8 years, starting with Russia!

Joe, would you call it contradictory, I would call it smart!

Serbia HAS made up it´s mind but it´s not in Brussels & US favour, rather the free world outside the western madhouse. First and foremost it´s real friends like Russia.

While having this goal in mind the play chess with the devil and he are not good at chess.....
