An agreement for visa-free travel between Russia and Serbia will be signed on Feb. 20 in Moscow, according to diplomatic sources. According to Tanjug news agency, the signing ceremony will be attended by Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. Visa-free to Russia from Feb. 20 Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin last week approved the draft agreement on travel conditions for Russian and Serbian citizens, while the Serbian government unanimously decided to abolish visas for Russian citizens on March 6, 2008. Under the agreement, which will be signed on Friday in Moscow, the two signatories wish to continue developing friendly relations between Russia and Serbia and to simplify travel procedures. Citizens from one country will be able to enter, exit, transit and stay in the other’s territory visa-free, according to the agreement, for a period of no more than 30 days from the day of entry. Exceptions are made for state representatives with diplomatic or official passports, who would be allowed an uninterrupted stay of up to 90 days. Additionally, citizens sent as diplomatic and consular representatives or representatives to international organizations, and members of their family with whom they live, can enter, exit, transit and stay in the other country with a diplomatic or official passport for the entire length of their accredited work. Nor will visas be necessary for citizens of one of the signatory states who hold temporary residency in the other’s country, or documents establishing their right as foreign citizens or people without citizenship to permanent residency in Russia and the right to visa-free entry to Russian territory. The entrance of citizens who come to the other country because of work or studies will continue to be subject to visas issued in accordance with the laws of the country they entered, while minors will be able to travel on their own passports or those of a parents, who is accompanying them.
