SRS deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic says that he will be ready to discuss the formation of a new government with the DSS after the May 11 elections. Nikolic said that he would be willing to discuss every possible position in the government, from prime minister to the last minister. SRS: Negotiations with DSS after elections The Serb Radical Party (SRS) deputy leader told B92 that he would like the SRS to win the elections and form the government on its own, but that now they had a partner. And “it could be the DSS with its coalition partners, because they’ve accepted what the SRS has been saying,” Nikolic said. He said that Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica needed to tell citizens whether a vote for the DSS would mean a vote for Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic. “I would like Vojislav Kostunica to say it on television, his crown won’t fall from his head. He might lose some members of his party, but it is no longer normal to keep sitting on the fence,“ the SRS deputy leader said. He said that Tadic and the DS might have the same wishes as the SRS, “but their principles and roads are so different that we cannot create a united government.” Nikolic said that, based on the way Tadic and Kostunica’s roads had diverged after the fall of the last government, there was no way that they could form a government again. The SRS deputy leader said that signing the SAA at this moment in time went against the will of the majority of Serbian citizens and parliamentary representatives. “It has no power, because not even the technical government stands behind it,” Nikolic said, adding that if the DS thought it was such a great idea, they would have called for immediate ratification of the agreement in parliament. He proposed that ratification of the SAA be put on the agenda of the new parliament’s first session. “The citizens who vote for the DS did not sign that. A select group went, they knew what they were doing, who they were sitting next to…They received an agreement which was, at best, dubious,” the SRS deputy leader surmised.
