Faced with new threats, B92 announces criminal charges Namely, after being one of the main protagonists, together with a group of New Serbia supporters, in the incident that took place on Monday night, December 3, when Radio B92’s Pescanik promotion was violently interrupted in Arandjelovac Cultural Center, and after his party New Serbia has issued press release on December 4, claiming that the party had actually organized disruption of the round-table debate, in the latest interview, Jovanovic, clearly and without any doubt, threatened B92 that he will set it on fire, referring to the experience he gained while setting RTS building on fire in the protests held on October 5, 2000. “If B92 keeps this up, they will end up like TV Bastille”, he told daily Politika, referring to the name the opposition gave to the Milosevic-controlled state television during the 1990s. He went on claiming that: “We have experience real experience, in practice. I’ve already shut TV Bastille down”. Jovanovic’s threats, in essence similar to the numerous anonymous threats we’ve been receiving these days, are being regarded very seriously. The intent of jeopardizing constitutional structure through endangering freedom of speech and freedom of expression is being openly declared. With the intent of realizing this open threat, Jovanovic threatens to set B92 on fire, thus provoking fear and insecurity. In accordance with the Serbian Criminal Law, this intention of jeopardizing constitutional structure, by threatening to convey commonly dangerous action, thus provoking the sense of fear or insecurity on the part of citizens, has its name, and it is called terrorism. The threats will not affect B92’s editorial policy in any way. B92 will press criminal charges with the request of launching an appropriate court proceeding, in accordance with the current Serbian legal regulations, which must be applied equally to all citizens of Serbia. RDP B92 CEO Veran Matic RDP B92 strongly protests against the threats that Dragan Jovanovic, Topola Mayor and New Serbia deputy leader, member of the ruling coalition, directed at B92 in an interview given to the daily Politika.
