Belgrade's Invej company has donated 330 tons of food to the "Food for Everyone” campaign, organized by Fund B92. The humanitarian push to collect food and money to support existing and open new soup kitchens in Serbia has had another successful today. Anti-hunger campaign gets big boost Invej joined the campaign with the donation of cooking oil and flour, which is set to cover the kitchens’ need for these supplies for the next several months. There are currently 55 soup kitchens in Serbia and thanks to this donation, and the previous one from Victoria Group which consisted of flour, potato and soya products, eight kitchens which were previously closed will now be re-opened. The organizers believe that all this will work to cushion the effects of the economic crises on the poorest citizens. Invej’s total donation is worth USD 12mn and includes 80 tons of cooking oil and 250 tons of flour. At the same time, 14,406 people joined the campaign by sending text messages to the number 2500, donating RSD 1,440,000 in this way. Direct donations from the Zemun Secondary School, Bozen cosmetics, Energy Financing Team, Singidunum University, Direct Group and Association of Independent Unions of Novi Sad amounted to RSD 531,000. Food distribution plan is being created in cooperation with Red Cross and it is expected that the first supplies will be delivered during the first half of November. B92 Fund is inviting companies and individuals, government, non-government and international organizations which have the means to join this campaign aimed at alleviating the effects of the crisis on the poor. “Food for Everyone” will continue until the living conditions of those economically the most vulnerable have visibly improved. B92 wishes to demonstrate with this project as well that the solution for some serious social issues is possible with the adequate involvement of those who can contribute. Partnership between private and public sector, companies and individuals, local autonomies and state bodies is giving remarkable results and represents an efficient strategy of social solidarity, a statement issued in Belgrade today said.
