Ojdanić will not use Army villa in Belgrade

Earlier reports suggested that Ojdanić, due to be released from Hague custody  between July 12 to 18 due to “humanitarian reasons” would be allowed to use the villa.

Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac issued an order last week according to which Hague indictees are denied access to any military facility.

Former Yugoslav Army (VJ) Chief of Staff Dragoljub Ojdanić was relieved from his duties eight years ago, but his family is still using the 200 square meter mansion.  According to the law, the residence was to be vacated one month after the army chief's mandate expired.

Ojdanić, along with retired VJ generals Vladimir Lazarević and Nebojša Pavković, former Serbian president Milan Milutinović, Nikola Šainović, and Sreten Lukić, is standing trial before the Hague Tribunal in a process dubbed the Kosovo Six.  The men are accused of war crimes committed against Kosovo Albanians in the 1999 conflict.

Before coming to Serbia, Ojdanić had to provide the Hague Tribunal with the details of his intended residence during his six-day stay in Belgrade.
Ojdanić also owns a 300 square meter villa in Dedinje, which his wife bought in 2002.

B92 has not been able to confirm why the Ojdanić family still occupies the Amy-owned mansion.
